Why you need a Mobile Friendly Website

Why you need a Mobile Friendly Website

People are doing a lot of things these days using there mobile phone. Just take a look around, all you see is people with mobile phones. A few years ago it was more common to see people carrying there laptops around.

2012 Google survey found that:

  • 74% of visitors were more likely to return to mobile friendly websites
  • 61% were likely to leave if a site wasn’t mobile friendly, and
  • 67% were more likely to buy at a mobile friendly website

This study was in 2012 over 4 years ago now imagine if this study was conducted today. I am sure there are new studies out there but its amazing how important having a mobile presence.  If your going to build a website make sure you don’t use a site builder because most aren’t very responsive to mobile devices.

Online Website Builder vs Web Designing Firm

Online Website Builder vs Web Designing Firm

What is an online website builder?

Online website builder software provides customers with a user interface and hundreds of templates to build your website. The top companies include,, and, but there are many more. For a small amount per month, a client can develop their own website by means of the drag and drop interface. Most of these companies have made the learning curve on their software pretty small, so getting very basic website up in a hurry is fairly easy.

Why Might you Want to Avoid Online Website Builders?

Online website builders provide a basic site for really made for DIY webmasters or hobbyists. While you can get a website up fast, it is very limited in terms of design elements you can add or use. To functionally upgrade your website you are going to need software extensions- things like SEO (search engine optimization), adding a form, or online scheduling are going to cost more. These additions add up over time.

With a large company, you are not going to get access to support, or the one on one attention that a web designing firm will provide for you.

What does a Web Designing Firm do?

A Web Designing Firm does at least 2 jobs. The design part is more artistic, with a skill set that involves the visual layout and ergonomics of the site. A Web Designing Firm has developers who works more with the way a site works- it’s functionality. They piece together your site to create a professional site that can never be matched by a site builder.

A web design firm is made up of designers and developers working together- and maybe a SEO person, and/or a marketing expert- this is more of an option for medium to larger businesses due to the greater expense.

Think twice before you start to invest so much time in a site builder.

3 Reasons Why Custom Websites are Better

3 Reasons Why Custom Websites are Better

There are tons of free web site solutions out there. And, believe it or not, as a web design and development firm we have no problem with this. Certain businesses might be just starting out or maybe they are restructuring and money is tight. We get that. We’d much rather they have a presence than none at all.

However, we don’t think this is an excuse for bad design. Design still matters. The web, for the most part, is a visual experience (factor in mobile, and the visual matters even more). Users tend to develop their initial level of trust based on superficial elements, i.e. design. And how they use the site is very much determined by how it is arranged visually and how well the information is presented.

Don’t think design matters? Here are three reasons why I think it does…

  1. First impressions are more important than ever
  2. Usability and user experience is crucial
  3. Good design means greater control

Design is more than just a beauty contest. Design is an integral part of your web marketing strategy – it drives user experience, goal conversion and content promotion. If clients are not impressed they will move on to another website and its as easy as a click.
